How to control a Mac from your iPad
In short: install Remolo on the iPad and the free Remolo Helper on the Mac. On iPad the trackpad is bigger, the button grid wider and landscape free, and with Remolo Pro the Mac’s screen shows above the trackpad — all of it working from any network. It is the same purchase as on iPhone.
Updated
What you need
- An iPad on iPadOS 18 or later.
- A Mac on macOS 15 or later with Remolo Helper.
- For the Mac’s screen and access over the internet — Remolo Pro (works on iPhone and iPad with one Apple ID).
Step by step
Install Remolo Helper
Download it on the Mac and allow Accessibility in System Settings.
Pair the iPad
Open Remolo on the iPad, pick the Mac and enter the code from its screen.
Turn the iPad sideways
In landscape the trackpad fills almost the whole screen — for free.
What is handier on iPad
- A big trackpad for precise moves and gestures.
- A wider button grid — more actions on one screen.
- The Mac’s screen (Pro) is easier to read, especially with the magnifier.
Remolo or a remote desktop
Remolo is a remote: cursor, keyboard, buttons, slides and a glance at the screen. If you need hours of work at the Mac’s full desktop from an iPad, see the comparison with Jump Desktop and Screens.
Honest limits
- Over the internet the Mac’s screen is smaller with fewer frames — for control and checking, not for full remote-desktop work.
- The Mac’s screen, 3–4-finger gestures and access from any network are part of Remolo Pro.
Questions
Do I pay separately for iPad?
No — the app and the subscription are the same for iPhone and iPad with one Apple ID.
And landscape on iPhone?
On iPhone the landscape trackpad is part of Remolo Pro; on iPad it is free.
