How to lock or sleep your Mac from your iPhone
In short: in the Buttons mode add a button with the System action → Lock (or Sleep, Turn off display, Screenshot), and the Mac locks with one tap. With Remolo Pro you can do the same from a widget, Control Center, Siri (“Lock my computer with Remolo”) and from any network, once you have left home or the office.
Updated
What you need
- A Mac with Remolo Helper and an iPhone with Remolo.
- For Siri, widgets, Control Center and access from any network — Remolo Pro.
Step by step
Add a button
Buttons → pencil → “+” → the System action → Lock.
Tap it when you leave
The Mac shows the login screen at once. Sleep and Turn off display work the same way.
Do it without the app (Pro)
Tell Siri “Lock my computer with Remolo”, add a widget, or put the action in Control Center or on the iPhone’s Action button.
Check whether the Mac is locked
The “Mac status” widget (Pro) shows whether the Mac is online, its battery, whether it is locked and whether remote access is on — even on the iPhone’s Lock Screen.
Pause for Remolo
If you want the phone unable to control the Mac at all, click pause in the Mac’s menu bar: control and the screen are off until you lift the pause.
Honest limits
- Remolo doesn’t unlock the Mac or type the password for you.
- Siri phrases are English only.
- Locking the Mac from away needs Remolo Pro with access from anywhere turned on.
Questions
Can the Mac go to sleep on a timer?
Yes: the Cinema mode has a 15–120-minute sleep timer (Pro) — the Mac pauses playback and goes to sleep.
Can a guest lock my Mac?
No: sleep and lock are never available to guests.
